Stop Glorifying the Corrupt – IGG Kamya

The Inspector General of Government (IGG) Beti Kamya

The Inspector General of Government (IGG) Beti Kamya has advised Ugandans to stop glorifying corruption as it is one of the factors affecting national growth and development.

Kamya says the corrupt that include Government officials and private individuals are using their positions to swindle public funds for personal gains, which in return has led to lack of accountability, inequality and poverty.

She says there is need for mindset change within the public never to fear those who misuse public funds but rather task them to account for their gains if not they should be reported to the authorities if Uganda is to win the war against corruption.

Kamya appreciated her team at the Inspectorate of Government (IG) and the Uganda Police Force who are working to combat corruption however concerted effort from all fronts is needed to stop the vice.

She revealed this as Uganda prepares to join the rest of the world to commemorate the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9th 2024 which will be held under the theme; “Promoting effective participation of the youth in the war against corruption”.
