A total of 315 suspects have been arrested in joint intelligence-led security operations conducted by the Kampala Metropolitan Police and other security agencies in a sweeping crackdown on crime across the metropolitan area.

The main operation, carried out on Wednesday night, targeted crime hotspots in Katwe, Nateete, Kajjansi, and Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala divisions.

The coordinated raids, conducted between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., involved officers from CPS Kampala, Kajjansi, Kabalagala, and Nateete divisions, resulting in the arrest of 280 suspects.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said the suspects are undergoing screening, and those found culpable will be charged accordingly.

She added that security teams also recovered suspected narcotic drugs, shisha pots, dangerous weapons, and television sets believed to be connected to criminal activity.

In a separate intelligence-led operation in Nansana Police Division, 35 additional suspects were arrested in Katooke, Nabweru, Kyebando, and Yesu Amala, bringing the total number of arrests to 315.
