Parliament Urges Journalists to Embrace Responsible Reporting, Cautions Against Extremism

Parliament’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Chris Obore

Parliamentary journalists have been urged to avoid extremism in journalism and activism by adhering to responsible and professional reporting standards.

Speaking during a half-day induction for parliamentary journalists, Parliament’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Chris Obore cautioned reporters against conflating press freedom with professional responsibility.

Obore emphasized the need for journalists to uphold core principles of the profession, maintain impartiality, and avoid biased reporting that could undermine public trust in the media.

He further encouraged journalists to remain accountable, responsible, and transparent in their work, stressing that these values are essential in serving the public interest effectively.
