NRM Task Force Urged to Observe Ebola SOPs During Kikuube LCV By-Election Campaigns

NRM Task Force Urged to Observe Ebola

Leaders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaign task force have been urged to strictly observe Ebola prevention measures while conducting scientific campaigns for the party’s flag bearer, Paddy Kisembo, ahead of the Kikuube District LCV chairperson by-election.

The by-election is scheduled for June 18 following the death of former district chairperson Peter Banura in a road accident.

Speaking to members of the campaign task force, Babiiha Jane Alisemera, a commissioner at the NRM Electoral Commission, called upon both party leaders and the public to remain vigilant by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola.

Alisemera explained that the party had adopted scientific campaigns and door-to-door mobilization as a safer alternative to large public gatherings, which are often difficult to manage and could increase the risk of disease transmission.

She emphasized that prioritizing public health and safety must remain central throughout the campaign period, adding that strict compliance with preventive measures is essential to protect communities and curb the spread of the virus.

Her message was echoed by the NRM’s Senior Manager, Samuel Eyenga, who advised party members to avoid unnecessary physical contact during campaign activities and to regularly wash their hands with soap, especially when attending meetings and engaging with voters.

Eyenga stressed that observing the recommended health guidelines would help ensure that the electoral process proceeds safely while safeguarding both campaign teams and the public from potential infection.

The NRM leadership says the scientific campaign approach is intended to balance effective voter mobilization with the need to maintain public health standards during the ongoing Ebola threat.
