President Museveni Declares 7th Term “Kisanja No Sleep, No Corruption” After Swearing-In

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has declared his seventh term in office as “Kisanja No Sleep, No Corruption” moments after taking the oath of office at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on Tueday.

In his inaugural address, Museveni said that since 1986, his government has worked tirelessly through key pillars including peace and security, infrastructure development, economic transformation, wealth creation, job creation, industrialization, market expansion for local products, and growth of the service sector — all of which he said have transformed Uganda.

However, the President noted that the challenge remains with some Ugandans who have failed to actively participate in improving their livelihoods, warning that complacency would not be tolerated during the new political term.

He said increased wealth creation would generate more jobs for the youth while expanding both local and international markets for Ugandan products.

Museveni also pledged to intensify the fight against corruption during his new term in office.

The President commended political parties that conducted peaceful campaigns, while criticizing those he accused of engaging in violence, specifically citing the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the National Unity Platform (NUP).

He further advocated for East African unity, calling for a common market that would bring together all countries in the East African region.

President Museveni arrived at the ceremony to a 21-gun salute as security forces on parade presented arms before he inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Army, Police, and Prisons Services.

However, First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni missed the ceremony for the first time.

Religious leaders present included Paul Ssemogerere, Chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa, and Rt. Rev. Sheldon Mwesigwa, who represented the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, among others.
