Deputy Public Relations Officer Luke Owoyesigyire

Police in Nsangi and Kyengera have recovered an illegal firearm and arrested a 26-year-old suspect following an intelligence-led operation.

The suspect, identified as Vincent Kimbugwe, also known as Kasumali, was apprehended after officers acted on a tip-off from members of the public.

A search conducted at his residence in Massanda Cell led to the recovery of a rusted AK-47 rifle with an obscured serial number. Authorities say the weapon has since been sent for forensic analysis to determine its origin and whether it has been used in previous criminal activities.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.

Police have commended residents and local leaders for their vigilance and cooperation, noting that community involvement remains crucial in combating crime.
