St. Augustine Catholic Parish Seeta

Joy and honuor filled the Christian and friends of the Catholic Church of St. Augustine Seeta Parish in Lugazi diocese marking the completion and commission of their Parish Church.

The Bishop of Lugazi Diocese Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza who presided over the function expressed gratitude  to Christians within the Diocese for their commitment to support and develop their church in Uganda.

He was specifically gratified with the local contribution in Billions of Uganda Shillings from the children, youth and adults, low and midsized income earners who dedicated their savings to build a magnificent place of worship befitting our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Augustine Catholic Church in Seeta, Lugazi Diocese.

A total of Ushs 3.5 Billion was solicited since 2019 when the parishioners started building the Church until 18th April 2026 when the newly constructed St. Augustine Parish Church Seeta was  dedicated, blessed and consecration by Bishop Christopher Kakooza.

Bishop Kakooza while delivering his message expressed pride on behalf of the Christians for loving, supporting and guiding the development of their church, a gesture which Pope Leo XIV has already pointed out during the Ad – Limina Visit of the Uganda Episcopal Conference Bishops in March 2026. He said the gesture should be jealously protected.

Bishop Kakooza also applauded the strong parish leadership that steers development along with the Priests, a working relationship that should never be injured or taken for granted.

During the Consecration and Dedication Ceremony Bishop Kakooza placed the remains of the Uganda Martyrs at the Altar, before smearing it with the holy oil of Chrism and all over the parish support pillars inside the Church. He also blessed the foundation stone.

St Augustine Seeta Catholic Parish comprises of four Sub parishes including Nyenje sub parish, Seeta Central sub parish, Bajjo sub parish and Misoto sub parish with at least 20,000 numbers of Catholics.

The function attracted priests, religious, Christians and friends including the minister for works and transport Gen. Katumba Wamala who have all contributed in one way or the other towards the completion of the Church.

The Church is managed by Rev. Fr. Dr. Godfrey Mboowa who is the Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator.
