Archbishop Obbo Urges Christians to Reflect and Renew Faith During Holy Week

Archbishop of Tororo, His Grace Dr. Emmanuel Obbo

The Archbishop of Tororo, His Grace Dr. Emmanuel Obbo, has called on the faithful to recognize the significance of Holy Week as the foundation of the Christian faith and the Church.

While presiding over the Chrism Mass at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Nyangole, Archbishop Obbo emphasized that this sacred period is a time for spiritual cleansing and renewal, urging Christians to turn back to God the Father.

He noted that the world is in great need of God’s pardon and forgiveness in order to foster a new and better life within society.

During the same Mass, priests renewed their vows of obedience. Archbishop Obbo encouraged them to remain steadfast as instruments of peace, hope, and faith in their ministry.

Similarly, priests from Masaka Diocese gathered at Kitovu Parish for the Chrism Mass led by their bishop, Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba.

It is during this Mass that holy oils are consecrated for use in various sacraments throughout the year.

The Chrism Mass was also held in the dioceses of Kasana-Luweero and Lugazi.

Traditionally celebrated on the morning of Holy Thursday in diocesan cathedrals, the Mass includes the blessing of holy oils and the renewal of priestly promises.

However, adjustments in timing, location, and attendance are sometimes made to ensure greater participation and unity among the clergy.
