Airtel Uganda has donated 20 high-tech digital laptops worth over Shs40 million to students from underprivileged backgrounds to support their academic journey.
The donation follows the recent award of 20 technology scholarships by the Airtel Africa Foundation, the charitable arm of Airtel Africa.
The scholarships were granted to students pursuing science and technology programmes at selected universities, with the aim of empowering them to support themselves, their families, and contribute to national development.
While handing over the laptops to the beneficiaries, Charity Brenda Rwabutomize Bukenya, the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Airtel Uganda, said the equipment will help the students carry out research and enhance their academic performance.
Rwabutomize also urged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies, warning that being among the best-performing students should not make them complacent.
She encouraged them to maintain strong academic records so they can fully benefit from the scholarship programme and avoid losing opportunities that could otherwise be extended to other deserving students.
