The Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury, Ramathan Ggoobi, has said there are currently no funds under the Parish Development Model (PDM) allocated to the newly created parishes.
The government recently created 128 new parishes, increasing the total number of parishes in the country from 10,589 to 10,717.
However, Ggoobi explained that residents in the newly established parishes should continue accessing PDM funds through their former parishes as the government focuses on strengthening the program within the already existing administrative units.
He also cautioned against the continued creation of new administrative units, noting that such expansions increase pressure on government resources due to the higher administrative costs involved.
