Police have arrested two notorious members of the “pavers” robbery group during a foot patrol along Nantenza Road in Kungu.
The suspects, identified as Raymond Zziwa and Stephen Lubega, are alleged to be involved in a string of violent robberies in the area. Zziwa was previously listed as a wanted criminal in Kungu.
The arrests were carried out by officers from Najjera and Buwaate police divisions.
The “pavers” group has been linked to violent attacks on residents, often using weapons such as hammers to commit robberies.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said the arrests represent a significant step in dismantling the gang’s operations.
In a separate operation on 26 February 2026, police and the UPDF detained seven additional suspects in Mukono District from crime-prone areas.
All suspects are currently in custody pending prosecution as authorities continue efforts to enhance public safety.
