Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Rachael Kawala

A total of 111 suspects have been arrested in a series of police operations targeting criminal activity across the Kampala Metropolitan Area.

SP Racheal Kawala, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said the arrests were made during disruptive operations aimed at dismantling networks involved in drug abuse, robbery, theft, and other unlawful acts.

On February 1, 2026, at around 11:00 p.m., a joint operation in Kigombya, Mukono Central Division, Mukono District, led to the arrest of 11 suspects from a known black spot linked to marijuana smoking, waylaying, and robbing members of the public. The suspects remain in police custody pending prosecution.

Earlier, on January 30, Kampala Central Police Station, in collaboration with local leaders, conducted an operation codenamed Fukuza Mafisadi.

The exercise covered Nakasero, Entebbe Road, Nasser Road, Railway Grounds, and Mukwano, targeting youths accused of snatching phones, bags, and vehicle parts during traffic jams.

Kawala confirmed that 100 suspects from the January 30 operation are expected to appear in court today.
