33 medals to be given out on Liberation day

Minister for the presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda

The ministry for the presidency says a total of 33 Ugandans will be awarded with medals for distinguished service at the 40th anniversary celebrations of the NRM/A liberation day on Monday next week.

The day is marked every 26th January 2026 and it will be celebrated at Kololo ceremonial grounds in Kampala.

The celebrations will be under the theme: tribute to the Patriots who ushered in a fundamental change.

The chief guest will be the president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

This has been said by the minister for the presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda, while addressing the media today at the media centre in Kampala.

The liberation day marked every 26th January is the day when the NRM/A fighters captured Kampala ending the FIVE year liberation struggle and the military rule of UNLA led by late Gen Tito Okello Lutwa.
