The NRM presidential flag bearer, President Yoweri Museveni, has warned voters in Makindye Division against individuals he described as proponents of violence, calling them enemies of Uganda’s progress.
Museveni made the remarks while addressing supporters at Buziga Islamic Primary School in Makindye Division, where he highlighted the National Resistance Movement’s achievements, including peace and stability, economic growth, wealth creation, youth skilling, and national development.
He urged residents to safeguard these gains by re-electing him and NRM candidates in the upcoming elections, citing what he described as transformative development projects implemented in Makindye Division.
The President also announced that Uganda is on track to reduce and eventually eliminate imports of major commodities, including motor vehicles, with the establishment of the KIIRA Electric Vehicle manufacturing plant in Jinja. He said the project will create jobs and open new wealth-creation opportunities through domestic production.
Museveni challenged residents of Makindye Division to identify additional sectors where they can actively participate in value addition and industrial growth.
Addressing the Parish Development Model (PDM), Museveni said the program has registered positive impact in Makindye Division but acknowledged gaps in its implementation.
He directed the Minister of Local Government, Raphael Magyezi, together with the PDM Secretariat led by Ssozi Galabuzi, to conduct a comprehensive review of the program’s rollout in Makindye, beyond areas such as Kawempe and Nansana.
The President further pledged to increase funding for the PDM, stressing the need for strict adherence to guidelines to ensure resources reach intended beneficiaries, particularly youth, women, and other special interest groups.
