Bobi Wine Issues Security Alert to NUP Supporters Ahead of Elections

NUP leader and presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu

As Uganda prepares for the General Elections next week, National Unity Platform (NUP) leader and presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has issued a security alert to all party leaders and activists.

With just ten days remaining until the elections, Kyagulanyi warned of planned operations by state security forces targeting NUP supporters across the country.

In a statement shared on his social media platform X, Kyagulanyi claimed that the Crime Intelligence Unit, led by Christopher Ddamulira, has launched a covert operation aimed at NUP leaders and pro-democracy activists.

According to him, the operation involves mass abductions, detentions, and enforced disappearances in urban centers, including Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, and surrounding districts.

Kyagulanyi further indicated that activists in other urban areas are also at risk. He said several NUP members have already been abducted since the operation began, with perpetrators reportedly organized into teams instructed to abduct at least ten individuals each in their assigned areas.

In response, Kyagulanyi called on NUP leaders and supporters to take immediate steps to protect themselves. He advised exercising extreme caution when using mobile phones and other communication devices, avoiding predictable routines, and remaining mobile and discreet, particularly at night.

He also urged party leaders to safeguard their families, especially children, by relocating them to secure locations.

Despite raising serious security concerns, Kyagulanyi encouraged his supporters to stay calm, remain vigilant, and be ready to vote on 15th January 2026.
