IRCU Urges Youth to Reject Manipulation, Focus on Building Their Future Ahead of 2026 Elections

Chairperson of the IRCU Council of Presidents, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu

The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) has advised young people to resist manipulation, fleeting grievances, and divisive voices that distract them from the long-term work of securing their future.

The message was delivered during the IRCU Christmas press conference held at the council’s offices in Mengo on Wednesday.

Speaking as Chairperson of the IRCU Council of Presidents, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, urged youths to guard their hearts against individuals who exploit their frustrations for short-term political or personal gain.

He encouraged them instead to channel their energy into acquiring skills, entrepreneurship, and productive ventures.

Archbishop Kazimba called on young people to remain vigilant and to vote with conscience in the general elections scheduled for 15 January 2026, while at the same time not neglecting the daily responsibility of providing for and securing the future of their families.

Meanwhile, the Archbishop also advised Ugandans to celebrate the festive season responsibly.

He urged the public to drive safely, maintain good health, and live in a way that promotes long and meaningful lives.
