Uganda Cranes’ Joseph Put releases 2025 AFCON squad

The Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Joseph Put has named the 17 year old youngster James Bogere in the final squad that will represent Uganda at the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The younger star put up a tremendous performance in the concluded under 17 World Cup tournament by scoring two goals coming against Canada and France.

Coach Put has also named six local based players who feature in Uganda Premier League in his 28 final squad.

These include Allan Okello (Vipers SC), Ivan Ahimbisibwe (KCCA FC), Regan Mpande (SC Villa), Hillary Mukundane and Rogers Torach both from Vipers sports Club.

Meanwhile KCCA skipper and goal keeper Charles Lukwago and Sports Club Villa Captain David Owori have been dropped and will miss out on the final squad for the continental showpiece.

Other superstars included in the squad include Goalkeeper Denis Masinde Onyango,Jamal Salim Magoola, Aziz Kayondo, Tobby Sibick , Captain Khalid Aucho, Baba Al Hassan and Lorenzen Melvyn among others.

 Uganda was put in group C along with three time champions 1980,1994 and 2013 Nigeria, Tunisia and Tanzania.

Uganda now looks forward to winning it’s first trophy after having lost its final to Ghana 2:0 in Accra on March 16th 1978 with only 8 appearances in the great tournament.
