The 2025 National Catholic Youth Conference kicks off in Gulu Archdiocese

Gulu archdiocese is hosting the 2025 National Youth Conference

The 2025 National Youth Conference has kicked off at Sacred Heart Secondary school in Gulu Archdiocese.

The annual event instituted in 1993, by the Catholic Bishops’ conference of Uganda brings together over ten thousand young people from across the nineteen dioceses of Uganda and beyond.

Its purpose is to bring young people closer to Jesus.

This year’s conference slated from, Tuesday the 9th to Sunday, the 14th of December is running under the theme ”You are also my witnesses, because you have been with me” (John 15:27).

The process of choosing an animating diocese is rotational among the dioceses under the four ecclesiastical provinces.

This year’s event is unique as it takes place during the Jubilee year of pilgrims of hope.

It also comes at the pick of the election campaigns that sometimes turn chaotic with elections slated for, 15th January 2026.

In an interview with the vicar general of Gulu archdiocese, Msgr. Martin Agwe, he encouraged young people to be critical with the candidates’ manifestos and vote wisely.

He also appeals to young people to desist from violence and avoid being used in this period.

In the same vein, Msgr. Agwe appeals to security personnel to have respect for human rights and also avoid the use of too much force during this election cycle.
