Kasana-Luweero Diocese is mourning the passing of Rev. Fr. Simon Peter Ssessanga, the Secretary General of the Luweero–Nakasongola–Nakaseke Joint Christian Council (LUNANA J.C.C.), who died this morning at the Bishop Ceaser Asili Memorial Hospital in Kasana, Luweero Town Council.
Fr. Ssessanga had been undergoing treatment for several weeks following an illness. He was 72 years old.
Ordained on August 26, 1979, at Lubaga Cathedral, Fr. Ssessanga served the Church for 46 years.
Known for his pastoral dedication and leadership, he had been serving as a priest at St. Joseph the Worker Katikamu Parish at the time of his death.
His contributions to the Diocese and the wider community earned him deep respect and admiration.
In an official statement issued by the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Emmanuel Ssekyanzi Lyevuze, on behalf of Bishop Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa, the Diocese announced the profoundly sorrowful news of Fr. Ssessanga’s passing.
A requiem Mass has been organized for this evening, December 8, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Katikamu Parish, followed by an overnight vigil.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place tomorrow, December 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Fr. Ssessanga’s final resting place in the priestly cemetery at the parish.
