The Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa has prayed for a peaceful, free and fair election in Uganda.
In his message to all Ugandans at Kiyinda Mityana Cathedral Bishop Zziwa said there is no justification for any political candidate to character-assassinate one another, promise air or promote hate speech yet the election process has got a stipulated period of time.
Bishop Zziwa challenged voters against being wood wicked by politicians and their aides to involve in electoral violence, Uganda needs a peaceful election.
This was contained in his address and blessing of all political candidates who turned up for the 44th Kiyinda Mityana diocesan day that is marked on Christ the King feast day on which they celebrate the diocesan day.
Uganda goes to the polls on 15th January 2026 to elect their leaders right from the president the political term May 2026 – May 2031.
On the side of the feast of Christ the King that is observed on the last Sunday of the liturgical year aday that encourages Christians to let Christ’s love, guide their lives and actions which also doubles as the diocesan day Bishop Zziwa challenged Christian to observe the Christian values as taught by Jesus Christ that is love, Justice and faith.
He questioned why a Christian Politician would abuse his calling by using the office where he is supposed to be a custodian of national resources to become greedy, promote difference among those he leads or influence pedaling that has cost citizens in terms of service delivery.
Bishop Zziwa said secularism and its vices have led many against God’s will behaving like the second thieve who ridiculed Jesus Christ while on the Cross.
Bishop Zziwa reminded every Christian especially Catholics that they are obliged to evangeslise the world
The diocesan day drew Christians from the 32 parishes that make up Kiyinda Mityana diocese that was animated by Kasanda Deanery.
He called forward all those candidates vying for various political positions and prayed for them.
