Lugazi Diocese Calls for Professionalism as 4th Annual Health Assembly Highlights Technology-Driven Care

Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Dr. Godfrey Mboowa

The Health Department of the Catholic Diocese of Lugazi has convened the 4th Annual Health Assembly, urging health workers to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics in the execution of their duties.

This year’s assembly, held at St. Francis Priests’ Center Namagunga in Buikwe District, focuses on the theme “Leveraging Technology and Innovation to Enhance and Sustainably Deliver Quality Patient Care within the Lugazi Catholic Health Network.”

The gathering brings together Catholic health workers and key stakeholders to evaluate current operations, celebrate achievements, and chart practical strategies for improving service delivery across diocesan health facilities.

In a message delivered by the Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Dr. Godfrey Mboowa, the Bishop of Lugazi, Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza, encouraged health workers to offer the best care possible, reminding them that they share in God’s mission of healing.

The Bishop expressed gratitude for the progress registered in the health sector, particularly in technology, infrastructure, and human resource capacity which he said gives Catholic health facilities an added advantage.

Fr. Ignatius Kayita of the diocesan health department highlighted the impact of regular monitoring, noting that it has significantly improved service delivery in diocesan hospitals and health centres, even those operating in remote areas.

The assembly was also graced by Buikwe District Deputy Health Officer, Bernadette Nabuuma, who commended the Catholic Church for helping bridge gaps in health service provision, especially in communities where government alone would struggle to meet demand.

The Lugazi Diocese currently oversees three hospitals and fifteen health centres categorized as Health Centre IV and III facilities.
