The Chairperson of the National Entrepreneurs and Traders Association (NETA), Thadeus Musoke Nagenda, has called on the government to expedite compensation for Kampala traders whose businesses were affected by floods two weeks ago.
He explained that the floods, linked to the ongoing construction of the Nakivubo channel by businessman Hamis Kiggundu, commonly known as Ham, have severely disrupted business operations and threatened the livelihoods of many traders.
Nagenda urged the government to prioritize the compensation process and ensure that affected traders receive fair and timely support for their losses.
He also stressed the importance of transparency and accountability to prevent further hardship.
He further noted that the association has observed a growing number of traders seeking assistance as the festive season approaches.
Many, he said, are grappling with financial and logistical challenges that are making it difficult to prepare adequately for the upcoming celebrations.
