The Vicar General of Lugazi Diocese Msgr. Richard Kayondo called for re-commitment by all the faithful to be the temple of God.
The temple of God reflects a person who is spiritually, morally and socially upright. He or she fulfills this commitment by Promoting peace, love and understanding of oneself and others.
Msgr Kayondo said this during the annual Pilgrimage at Bulimu in Mukono District the birth places of one of the Uganda martyrs Saint Ponsiano Ngondwe . It coincided with the celebrations of feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica a day marked every 9 November.
He says in the family, prayer groups and gatherings, catholic movements build the commitment to faith and catholic values to help the world see Jesus Christ in his people on a daily basis.
Msgr. Kayondo implored the pilgrims and all Christians to live the true discipleship of Jesus Christ.
He called for prayers and quick recovery in health for the ordinary of Lugazi Diocese Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza who is currently under medical instructions.
This years pilgrimage was attended by students and pupils from various schools within the diocese and lay faithful.
Saint Ponsiano Ngondwe was the fourth Uganda Martyr to be killed, on 26th 1886 at Munyonyo by the chief executioner Mukanjaga on the orders of the then Kabaka Mwanga.
Lugazi diocese which animated 3rd June Uganda Martyrs day 2025 at Namugongo promised to develop saint Ponsiano Ngondwe site as part of the memoriam using part of the contribution made to support the diocese during Uganda Martyrs day celebrations.
