President Yoweri Museveni today addressed supporters at Bugobero High School, marking his second campaign rally in the Bugisu Sub-region.
The rally was an opportunity for the President to present the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) achievements and ongoing commitments, as laid out in the party’s manifesto.
Speaking to a large crowd of NRM supporters, President Museveni outlined seven key contributions the NRM government has made to Uganda since coming into power in 1986.
The President began by highlighting the first and foremost achievement of the NRM, bringing peace and stability to Uganda after rejecting sectarian politics based on tribe and religion.
He emphasized that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have consistently recruited individuals regardless of their tribal or religious backgrounds, fostering unity among Ugandans.
The second major contribution, according to President Museveni, has been significant development in both economic and social infrastructure.
He pointed to advances in critical sectors such as electricity, road networks, telecommunications, schools, and hospitals.
On education, President Museveni noted that Manafwa District currently boasts 61 government primary schools and 10 government secondary schools, with ongoing efforts to ensure every parish has at least one primary school, and every sub-county is served by a secondary school.
In the health sector, President Museveni underscored the importance of job creation through wealth generation rather than reliance on government employment.
He encouraged local residents to focus on commercial agriculture and industrialization as avenues for economic growth and job creation.
Looking ahead, the President announced that Manafwa District will soon benefit from the establishment of the Manafwa Industrial Park.
With the region’s rich deposits of minerals such as vermiculite and iron ore, the park will serve as a hub for industrial growth and youth employment.
The rally ended on a hopeful note, with President Museveni reaffirming his government’s commitment to continued development and prosperity for the people of Uganda.
