Uganda’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) Begin Smoothly Amid Tight Security

UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule Musamba

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has confirmed that the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) began on Monday without major incidents, as a total of 817,885 Primary Seven candidates from 16,140 examination centers across the country sat for their first papers.

The morning session saw candidates tackling Mathematics, while the afternoon exam was focused on Social Studies (SST).

UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule Musamba provided an update during a press conference at Police Headquarters in Naguru, stating that all examination materials had been successfully distributed to the various centers on time.

Musamba also highlighted that UNEB had worked closely with local government officials in districts affected by recent landslides, ensuring that alternative exam centers were provided for affected candidates so that none would miss the critical exams.

In a related development, Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke urged presidential candidates and political groups to refrain from holding processions or rallies near examination centers, emphasizing the importance of avoiding disruptions for the candidates.

He reassured the public that police, in collaboration with other security agencies, were taking measures to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the exams throughout the country.
