The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has confirmed that 17 pregnant Senior Four students across the country have been allowed to sit for their final exams.
The exams, which began earlier this month, have seen notable incidents, including a student from Millennium High School in Koboko who gave birth while taking her exams.
Addressing journalists at Police Headquarters in Naguru, UNEB Spokesperson Jennifer Kalule Musamba said that while the board does not condone teen pregnancies, affected candidates are granted an extra 45 minutes to complete their exams.
She added that the examination process has been progressing smoothly with no major disruptions.
In a related update, Kalule Musamba stated that UNEB has briefed 150 district monitors ahead of the upcoming Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), with additional scouts and invigilators to be briefed over the weekend.
A total of 817,930 candidates are expected to sit for the PLE, starting with a briefing exercise on Friday, 31st October.
