Bishop Wamika’s Final Journey

The Diocese of Jinja has released the official programme for the requiem and funeral Masses of the late Rt. Rev. Charles Martin Wamika, who will be laid to rest on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, inside Rubaga Cathedral in Jinja.

The body of the late bishop will be transported and accorded final honours in several locations across the dioceses of Tororo Ecclesiastical Province, giving the faithful an opportunity to pray and pay their last respects.

According to the programme, the journey begins on Friday, October 24, when the body will be taken to Nyangole Parish for an overnight vigil and a requiem Mass.

On Saturday, October 25, a requiem Mass will be held at Lubaga Cathedral in Kampala from 1:00pm, followed by an overnight vigil at the cathedral.

The body will later proceed to Budaka and Iganga on October 26 and 27 for additional requiem liturgies and public viewing.

The final funeral Mass will take place at Jinja Cathedral on Tuesday, October 28, beginning at 10:00am, followed by speeches and the burial at midday.

The ceremony will be presided over by Archbishop Emmanuel Obbo.

The diocese has urged the faithful to maintain solemnity and prayerful reflection throughout the liturgical celebrations.

Priests within and outside the diocese have also been encouraged to offer Mass for the repose of Bishop Wamika’s soul, while choirs and liturgical teams have been assigned to animate the ceremonies.

A-Plus Funeral Management has been placed in charge of transportation and care of the bishop’s remains until his final resting place.

Rt. Rev. Wamika served as the shepherd of the Diocese of Jinja until his passing. His burial will mark the climax of days of prayer, vigils and Eucharistic celebration in honour of his life and ministry.

May his soul rest in eternal peace
