Police have reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to due process, amid reports suggesting that the victim in the assault case against Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima may have withdrawn her complaint.
Speaking during a press briefing at Naguru Police Headquarters today, Police Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke addressed public concerns following a widely circulated video that showed ASP Nsiima allegedly slapping a female shop attendant at a Shell Select outlet in Kyanja.
Rusoke stated that the police acted immediately after the video surfaced on social media by arresting and detaining Nsiima.
He added that the officer has also faced internal disciplinary action, appearing before the police disciplinary committee twice last week, and is now set to answer to criminal charges in court.
Regarding the reported withdrawal of the complainant’s statement, Rusoke clarified that such matters are beyond the police’s control once a case enters the court system.
He emphasized that any change in the victim’s testimony would be handled through the judicial process, as the police cannot interfere with court proceedings or influence the final outcome.
