The Electoral Commission (EC) has called on media practitioners to strictly adhere to electoral guidelines to prevent complications during the ongoing electoral process.
EC spokesperson Julius Muchunguzi made the appeal during the 25th Annual Media Convention organized by Makerere University School of Journalism, held under the theme: “Responsible Media Reporting and Communication during Elections.”
Muchunguzi emphasized the crucial role of responsible media coverage, stressing the need for accurate, unbiased, and balanced reporting throughout the electoral period.
He further explained that the EC has set clear guidelines for candidates to ensure impartiality during the elections, and similarly, the media must follow these standards to avoid creating misunderstandings or conflicts.
“The media should focus on promoting fair and balanced reporting that empowers citizens to make informed choices,” Muchunguzi added.
