National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has promised improved infrastructure and quality education to the people of Bugweri District if elected president in the 2026 general elections.
Kyagulanyi, who is on a campaign tour of Bugweri and Namutumba districts today, told supporters at a rally in Bugweri that the area and the wider Busoga region has long suffered under poor service delivery by the current NRM government.
During the rally, residents expressed frustration over the deteriorating road network and what they described as a failing education system, which they say is no longer beneficial to their children.
Kyagulanyi assured the crowd that these issues would be prioritized under a NUP-led government. “The suffering in Bugweri and Busoga is a result of decades of neglect. This will change when NUP is in power,” he said.
He also encouraged voters to resist state intimidation and to freely choose leaders who will genuinely represent their interests. “Do not be afraid. If you want better services, vote for candidates who stand for change,” he urged.
