Kampala Central Parliamentary aspirant Abudallah Walangalira has urged voters to resist the influence of excitement and bribery during the upcoming elections, warning that such behavior continues to fuel poor service delivery in the city.
Speaking while touring areas within the Central Division, including Kisenyi, Owino, and Nakivubo, Walangalira encouraged residents to embrace his unique campaign initiative dubbed “Alarm Week.”
The initiative involves blowing whistles loudly every day at midday as a symbolic reminder to leaders about the ongoing failures in service delivery across Kampala.
Walangalira, who is running on an independent ticket, emphasized the need for voters to make informed decisions rather than being swayed by temporary handouts or flashy promises.
He said this election presents a critical opportunity for people to change the city’s political direction and elect leaders who prioritize the public good.
He pointed to chronic issues such as poor sanitation, inadequate drainage systems, and failing education and healthcare services as direct consequences of electing self-serving leaders.
Calling on the people of Kampala Central to consider his candidacy seriously, Walangalira vowed to advocate for real change rooted in transparency, accountability, and community involvement.
