The Second Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has reaffirmed her candidacy for the same position ahead of the NRM Delegates’ Conference scheduled for next week, from Wednesday, August 27 to Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Her statement comes amid rumors circulating on social media suggesting that she had been dropped from the race, along with other aspirants, even before the official vetting process began.
Speaking to the press from her office in Kampala, Kadaga dismissed the claims and firmly stated that she remains in the race and has no intention of withdrawing.
She also addressed the internal tensions among CEC aspirants, noting that while the contest has seen some bickering, it is important to remember that there are no financial benefits attached to the positions.
“People should know that there is no money they are fighting for in CEC—only positions,” Kadaga emphasized.
The Central Executive Committee (CEC) convened yesterday to vet various aspirants ahead of the upcoming elections.
