Archbishops Renew National ID, Urges Ugandans to Embrace Exercise

Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, alongside Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, renewed their National Identification Cards

The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, alongside Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, renewed their National Identification Cards during a registration exercise held at Archbishop Ssemogerere’s residence in Rubaga on Monday morning.

Speaking at the event, Archbishop Ssemogerere emphasized the importance of the exercise, describing it as essential for national planning and development.

He encouraged all Ugandans to actively participate, noting that the initiative is ultimately for their own benefit.

The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) launched the mass registration exercise earlier this year, aiming to renew existing National IDs and register new entrants into the system.

According to NIRA’s Chief Executive Officer, Rosemary Kisembo, the process is progressing smoothly both within the country and abroad.

She revealed that over 9 million Ugandans have already been registered locally, while more than 2,000 Ugandans residing in Qatar have also been successfully registered.

The ongoing exercise is part of a broader national effort to update citizen data and ensure better service delivery across various sectors.
