The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) has called on the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) to distribute the 2024 National Population and Housing Census report to all government institutions to enhance planning and decision-making across all sectors.
This appeal was made during an engagement organized by UBOS with IRCU leaders at their offices in Kampala today, aimed at providing a detailed briefing on the 2024 census exercise.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Antony Zziwa, Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana and Chairman of the Episcopal Conference also a member of the IRCU Council of Presidents emphasized the importance of making the census report accessible to all institutions, ministries, and agencies for effective planning and service delivery to Ugandans.
Bishop Zziwa commended UBOS for engaging religious leaders to help them better understand the census findings.
However, he stressed that the report should be made readily available to key government agencies such as the Ministries of Education, Health, and Finance, which are responsible for driving the country’s social and economic development.
He also urged religious leaders to internalize the statistics in the report so they can better inform and guide their congregations.
