President Museveni Hails Late Tamale Mirundi

President Yoweri Museveni has paid tribute to the late Joseph Tamale Mirundi, praising him as a strategic communicator who played a vital role in amplifying the message of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) through the media.

Mirundi, a well-known political analyst, author, and former Presidential Press Secretary, passed away on August 13, 2024.

“The NRM lost a good cadre and a strategic communicator. I urge his children and grandchildren to carry on his good works,” said President Museveni in a message delivered today by Haji Faruk Kirunda, Special Presidential Assistant on Press and Mobilization and also the Deputy Presidential Spokesperson.

The remarks were made during a memorial mass held at St. Gyaviira Catholic Parish in Bunamwaya to mark one year since Mirundi’s passing.

President Museveni also extended his appreciation to the family and relatives of the late Mirundi for organizing the commemorative event in his honor.

Speaking at the same event, Haji Kirunda encouraged Mirundi’s children to remain united and consider forming a SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization), which the government would support to empower them as a family.

Additionally, Haji Kirunda officially launched the construction of the Mirundi Media Plaza, a project estimated to cost approximately Shs 1 billion.
