Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango

Police in Nsangi have arrested an 18-year-old girl in connection with the murder of her colleague during a dispute at a local bakery in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.

Swabura Arinda, 18, was taken into custody on Tuesday following the fatal stabbing of fellow employee Grace Anyima, also 18, at Dema Bakery in Rabai Estate.

The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Monday evening.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a disagreement erupted between the two over the use of a shared charcoal stove.

Arinda allegedly removed a saucepan that Anyima was using to boil water, sparking a heated confrontation.

The altercation escalated, culminating in Arinda allegedly stabbing Grace in the back.

Despite efforts by colleagues to rush her to the hospital, Anyima succumbed to her injuries.

Responding officers found Grace’s body bearing a deep stab wound on her upper left back.

A green-handled knife with suspected blood stains was recovered at the scene, along with signs of a physical struggle.

Arinda is currently being held at Nsangi Police Division as investigations continue.

Police have recorded statements from eyewitnesses and are working to establish a full account of the events leading to the incident.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango condemned the act of violence and urged the public to seek peaceful ways to resolve conflicts.
