Presidential aspirants have begun collecting nomination forms from the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters in the Industrial Area, Kampala.
The Chairperson of the Commission, Justice Simon Byabakama, issued guidelines requiring all aspirants to collect the forms in person.
This measure is intended to facilitate proper identification and documentation, allowing the EC to notify relevant authorities and provide necessary support throughout the process.
Each aspirant receives three essential documents: supporter forms, nomination guidelines, and the nomination forms themselves.
Candidates are required to gather signatures from at least 100 registered voters in each of Uganda’s 98 districts.
Samuel Kiyingi, the Principal Elections Officer in charge of elections management at the EC, is overseeing the process.
Several independent candidates have already collected their nomination forms, including Moses Makmot, Ochieng, David Francis Ntazibyayo, Robert Mutono Mbulambago, Allan Baguma Mugisha, Charles Bbaale, Rugiirwa Katatumba, and Ivan Kisakye.
Many of them have publicly shared their motivations for seeking the country’s top office.
The form collection window will remain open for one month, allowing candidates time to complete the requirements ahead of the official nomination dates set for September 23rd and 24th, 2025.
