FDC Mourns Founding Member and Businessman James Garuga Musinguzi

FDC spokesperson John Kikonyogo

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is mourning the death of one of its founding members and prominent businessman, James Garuga Musinguzi, who passed away earlier today.

Garuga died this morning at Nakasero Hospital, where he had been receiving medical treatment.

A key figure in the formation of the FDC, Musinguzi was also a major financial supporter of the party during its formative years, playing a pivotal role in its growth and sustainability.

Speaking to our reporter in Kampala, FDC spokesperson John Kikonyogo described Musinguzi as “irreplaceable,” highlighting the significant contributions he made to the party’s development.

“Musinguzi’s legacy within the FDC is undeniable. His passing leaves a deep void that will be felt by members and supporters across the country,” Kikonyogo said.

He added that while the FDC mourns the loss of one of its founding pillars, the party also celebrates his life, his many accomplishments, and the lasting impact he had on Uganda’s political landscape.

James Garuga Musinguzi was born in 1953 in Kihihi Town Council, Kanungu District.

He attended Kinkiizi Primary School, Mbarara High School, and Makerere College School before enrolling at Makerere University, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce.

He later returned to the university to pursue a Bachelor of Laws (LLB).

May his soul rest in eternal peace
