KCCA Highlights Key Achievements in City Transformation Drive

KCCA Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki

The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has outlined major accomplishments from the 2024/25 financial year and reaffirmed its commitment to further improving service delivery in the current fiscal year.

Speaking at a press briefing in Kampala this afternoon, KCCA Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki cited several strategic initiatives that have boosted infrastructure and public welfare across the city.

Buzeki pointed to the Kampala Roads Rehabilitation Project, which has seen over 70 kilometers of city roads refurbished.

In addition, major drainage channels have been upgraded to mitigate urban flooding, while the recently completed Kampala Signal Control Center developed in partnership with the Uganda Police is now enhancing traffic monitoring and coordination.

Addressing the issue of street vending, Buzeki announced the creation of free market spaces for informal vendors, helping to restore order in busy public areas.

She also revealed that over 280 street children have been rescued and enrolled in four city schools as part of KCCA’s ongoing social reintegration program.

In line with the Authority’s Smart City vision, KCCA continues to run public awareness campaigns to discourage littering and promote civic responsibility.

Enforcement measures, including fines for non-compliance, are also being implemented to maintain cleanliness and order in the capital.

As the new financial year unfolds, Buzeki reaffirmed KCCA’s commitment to transforming Kampala into a modern, inclusive, and sustainable urban center
