Thousands Gather at Kibuli Mosque to celebrate 32 Years of Kabaka Mutebi’s Reign

Celebrations to mark 32 years of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II on the throne at Kibuli Mosque drew hundreds of thousands of people from across the country.

The event officially began at 2:30 PM, with a host of dignitaries in attendance, including Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, Prince David Kintu Wasajja, Prince Richard Ssemakookiro, and the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga.

Other attendees include Buganda ministers, central government officials, as well as religious and political leaders, notably the Papal Nuncio Emeritus Archbishop Augustine Kasujja.

Supreme Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi led Dua prayers, asking Allah to grant His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II continued wisdom, guidance, and good health as he leads his people.

The Supreme Mufti also extended prayers for the wellbeing of the Kabaka’s family.

The day’s main sermon was delivered by Sheikh Yasin Abas Kiwewa, who prayed for the Almighty to guide and bless the Kabaka throughout his reign.

He also issued a strong warning to religious leaders who use their platforms to undermine the Kingdom, reminding them that “leadership comes from God.”

Sheikh Kiwewa further questioned some clan heads (Bataka) for continuing to use the Kingdom’s titles and names despite disregarding its traditions and values.

As of now, the celebrations are still ongoing. We will bring you more updates in our next news bulletin.
