As the Kingdom of Buganda prepares to mark the 32nd Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II on July 31 at Kibuli, the Buganda Parliamentary Caucus has extended warm congratulations to the monarch, commending his steadfast leadership and commitment to cultural preservation.
In a statement issued by the caucus chairperson, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, the MPs praised the Kabaka for his transformative reign, describing it as a symbol of unity, identity, and development for the Buganda region.
The caucus highlighted landmark achievements under his leadership, including the establishment of the Buganda Land Board, media houses under the kingdom, and various economic empowerment initiatives that continue to improve the lives of millions.
However, amid the celebrations, the caucus expressed concern over ongoing challenges affecting the people of Buganda.
These include limited political representation in top national positions, widespread land grabbing, increasing poverty, and disparities in regional development.
In light of these concerns, the Buganda Parliamentary Caucus renewed its call for the adoption of regional federalism, arguing that it offers a sustainable framework for the equitable distribution of national resources and balanced development across all parts of Uganda.
The 32nd Coronation Anniversary is expected to draw thousands of subjects, dignitaries, and well-wishers in celebration of Kabaka Mutebi’s enduring legacy.
