Archbishop of Kampala calls for listening to God’s voice through common people to protect Mother Earth

The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere

The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, has urged for discernment in hearing God’s voice, especially through the common people and women, as a crucial step toward protecting Mother Earth.

In his opening remarks at the 10th anniversary celebration of Pope Francis’s Laudato Si’ held at Bethany Land Institute in Nandere, Kasana Luweero Diocese, Archbishop Ssemogerere noted that the world has lost the art of listening.

This loss, he said, is evident in the widespread destruction affecting both humanity and the environment.

He expressed special gratitude to Fr. Dr. Emmanuel Katongole of the University of Notre Dame in US for his inspiration and leadership in guiding the discussions and reflections on Pope Francis’s vital encyclical on the care of our common home.

Meanwhile, the Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa, emphasized the need to strengthen every individual’s commitment to caring for Mother Earth.
