The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, has condemned the violence and violations experienced during the recently concluded political party primary elections.
He made the remarks during the launch of the Justice and Peace Department’s five-year Strategic Plan (2025–2029), held at Lubaga Cathedral.
The Archbishop stated that the Church is deeply concerned about the killings and abuses suffered by Ugandans during the electoral process.
The strategic plan focuses on five key areas: Humanitarian Issues including social protection, Catholic Social Teachings, Good Governance Issues, Gender Justice Advocacy, Research and Knowledge Management, and Environmental Justice.
Archbishop Ssemogerere emphasized that, building on the bold vision of the Archdiocese and the support of stakeholders, the strategic plan outlines clear steps toward achieving a more just and peaceful Uganda.
Fr. Emmanuel Siita, the Kampala Archdiocesan Director of the Justice and Peace Department, noted that the initiative seeks to uphold the dignity of the human person through targeted programs rooted in core Catholic principles.
