The Rubaga District Returning Officer, Robert Kato, has commended NRM members and candidates for conducting peaceful and orderly elections during the ongoing party primaries.
Speaking to the media, Kato confirmed that no incidents of electoral violence or official complaints had been reported across the district, a development he attributed to the cooperation between candidates, voters, and local party structures.
“Rubaga has shown that internal democracy is possible without chaos,” Kato said.
The contest for Rubaga North Constituency has drawn notable attention, with candidates including Isaac Lwanga, Singh Katongole, Timothy Ndiwalana, Francis Kyesero Wamala, and Aida Wanyana vying for the party flag.
In the race for Kampala District Woman MP (NRM flag bearer), contenders include Joweria Zake Namuli, Sofia Safina Kenyangi, Aminah Lukanga Nanziri, and ShamimNanfuma.
Preliminary results from Kasubi Zone 4 in Rubaga North show Isaac Lwanga leading the tally.
According to local vote counts, Lwanga garnered 73 votes, followed by Singh Katongole (21 votes), Aida Wanyana (3 votes), and Timothy Ndiwalana (1 vote).
Lwanga thanked the NRM secretariat for a well-organized process after casting his vote in Kasubi, saying the peaceful environment reflected the party’s commitment to democratic practice.
Final results from Rubaga and other constituencies are expected as tallying continues across the district.
