Chants and jubilations filled St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish Church in Nansana as this year’s winners of Radio Sapientia’s Catechism Quiz Competition were announced.

The grand finals of the 2025 Catechism Competition, dubbed Akabbinkano ka Katikisimu 2025, were held at St. Joseph’s Parish in Nansana.

The event was presided over by the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, and represented by the Chaplain of Makerere University Business School, Msgr. Lawrence Ssemusu.

At the conclusion of the competition, which featured three categories Children, Students, and Adults James Lubinga from Kibiri Parish emerged as the winner of the Children’s category with 44 points, earning a plot of land courtesy of Banjeru Properties.

In the Students’ category, Derrick Kirembwe from Emmanuel College Kazo in St. Kizito Bwaise Parish took first place with 48 points, also winning a plot of land courtesy of Banjeru Properties.

Among the Adults, Joseph Mukisa from Kibiri Parish claimed victory with 42 points, securing a brand-new motorcycle donated by Centenary Bank.

The event was well attended by parishioners, listeners, and sponsors from St. Joseph’s Parish, Nansana.

The day began with a Eucharistic Celebration, where Msgr. Lawrence Ssemusu delivered a sermon, encouraging the congregation to live as committed Christians, following the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The event coincided with the Catholic Church’s celebration of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, a day that reminds Christians of the unconditional love Jesus showed by sacrificing His life to save mankind.

He, without sin, endured ridicule, abuse, and torture to offer salvation.

Parents expressed their gratitude towards Radio Sapientia, the Radio of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda, for hosting the Catechism competition, which they believe plays a vital role in evangelization and fostering the Christian faith.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Lubula, Managing Director of Radio Sapientia, revealed that the competition is designed not only to promote faith but also to raise public awareness about the importance of faith in building a self-sustaining and holistic life.

By offering prizes that can generate income, the competition aims to improve family livelihoods.
