The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) has urged caregivers of persons with disabilities to assist them in exercising their right to vote in the upcoming elections.

Ronald Luyima, Program Officer at NUDIPU, highlighted that many individuals with disabilities face challenges accessing polling stations and casting their ballots without support.

He emphasized that caregivers play a crucial role in enabling persons with disabilities to participate fully in the electoral process.

As political parties prepare for primaries for various elective positions, Luyima stressed the importance of inclusivity and equal participation in the democratic process.

He noted that providing the necessary support to caregivers can significantly empower persons with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard and their civic duties fulfilled.

This call underscores the need for a more inclusive electoral process, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to participate.
