The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has summoned the National Coordinator of the Parish Development Model (PDM), Dennis Ggalabuzi, to appear before the committee next Tuesday at 9:00 AM.
The summons follow growing concerns over the alleged diversion of Shs 5.6 billion meant for PDM activities.
According to the Auditor General’s report for the financial year ending 2024, Shs 5.7 billion out of the Shs 12 billion released for planned PDM activities was spent without proper justification or accountability.
Appearing before PAC which is chaired by Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Ben Kumumanya, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the missing funds.
He instead appealed to the committee to summon the PDM National Coordinator, who he said is directly responsible for the implementation and financial oversight of the program.
The Auditor General’s report also revealed that several planned activities including PDM monitoring meetings across sub-regions, public awareness media campaigns, and procurement of office equipment for the PDM Secretariat were either partially implemented or not executed at all.
