President Museveni commends Youth Platform Africa for transformational growth in Agri-Business

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised Youth Platform Africa (YPA) for its remarkable journey of transformation and expansion in the field of agri-business.

From its modest beginnings with just 100 goats, YPA now boasts a thriving stock of 110,000 goats and has expanded from farming maize on a single acre to cultivating 36,000 acres testament to the group’s hard work and commitment to wealth and job creation through commercial agriculture.

In a message delivered on his behalf by the Minister of State for Children and Youth Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, during YPA’s Annual General Meeting and Expo held at Kololo Independence Grounds yesterday, President Museveni expressed appreciation to the leaders and members of YPA for effectively propagating the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) message on wealth creation among the youth.

He urged all Ugandans to actively join the money economy as a strategy to eradicate poverty, warning that poverty and social backwardness persist because many remain mere spectators in the economy.

President Museveni also recognized Col. Edith Nakalema, Patron of YPA, for her pivotal role in supporting youth-led initiatives and for guiding their energy, vigor, and creativity toward wealth and job creation as a means of securing Uganda’s future prosperity.

Founded in 2008 as a small village group of 21 individuals, YPA became a registered Community-Based Organization in 2010.

It has since grown to include 60 members who now form the Board of Governors, Executive Committee, and Managing Directors.

Their primary focus areas include goat rearing, maize farming, and beekeeping.
