Pakistan has announced that it shot down 25 Indian drones overnight, amid heightened tensions along the border.
The country has not commented on Indian claims that Islamabad also sent drones and “missiles” over the border.
India stated that Pakistan was attempting to “engage a number of military targets” across the Line of Control.
Pakistan reports that since Wednesday morning, 31 people have been killed and 57 injured due to air strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, along with ongoing firing along the Line of Control.
In response, India’s army said at least 16 civilians were killed by Pakistani shelling on its side of the border.
India’s initial missile strikes were reportedly a response to a deadly militant attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam last month, an incident which Islamabad denies involvement in.
The region of Indian-administered Kashmir continues to experience a decades-long insurgency, which has claimed thousands of lives. Both India and Pakistan claim the territory in full, fueling ongoing conflict and tensions.
