NUP appoints new Election Management Committee, Chemutai vows against corruption

Harriet Chemutai as NUP EC chairperson

The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has named nine new Party Election Management Committee members, led by Harriet Chemutai as chairperson.

Following her appointment, Chemutai swore never to allow corruption during her tenure.

Chemutai is replacing Mercy Walukamba, who has been the NUP EC chairperson.

She will be deputized by Ivan Ssempijja, the former Makerere Guild president.

Among other members of the NUP EC are Eddie Kayabula as EC Secretary, Alex Lwanyaga as EC Technical advisor, John Mary Ssebuufu heading Buganda region, Egesa Akyoka heading Eastern Region, Patrick Luwumu heading Northern Uganda, Julian Kambagambe heading Western Uganda, and Salim Sultana heading EC Publicity.

While addressing journalists after her appointment, Chemutai disclosed that she has come to serve NUP and Uganda at large to change the governance of this country without allowing any corruption.

Chemutai thanked NUP for not being discriminatory and proving wrong those who are spreading tribal tendencies that NUP is only for Baganda.
